one song featuring a thick girl talking about how she loves herself
And like let’s be real. These strangers don’t care about someone’s health. That’s the word that gets used, but it’s not the motivating factor. If they cared about health, this shit would be posted on everything that shows people drinking alcohol or smoking or doing backflips on tall buildings or any other stupid YouTube trend.
It’s aesthetic policing. It’s finding am excuse to make someone feel less than human, to be allowed to view someone as less than, because of their appearance.
Y’all buttmunches, we know you don’t care about our health.
Yep. And it’s the kind of stupid rhetoric that gets used all the time even when thick chicks AREN’T making some kind of statement about their body.
(I mean come on I thought opera was the one realm where the fat woman reigned supreme! The birth of an idiom!)
Like apparently simply existing and trying to succeed in something and doing something is a statement if you’re a plus-sized woman. Doing something other than exercising nonstop (and do we know these women aren’t? the connotations between body size and habits is that there ARE NONE. fat does not mean lazy. even if they ARE just sitting around all day who the fuck cares though.) and hating yourself is apparently a no-no. Don’t be happy don’t succeed don’t pursue anything you love. Work on being skinny, first.
I loved movies as a kid and so before I understood that people make them happen from behind the scenes, I wanted to be an actress. And then one of my friends told me that they don’t let fat girls on camera. And I was upset. But I was even more upset later when I realized that she was right. That’s a hell of a thing to be told at age 9.
